DJs and promoters Chris Pope, Ed Maxwell & Graham Wynne all hail originally from the Lancaster area, with Chris now based in Manchester. For the past 7 years they have been working hard throughout the UK, as club promoters and DJs, playing their part in the worldwide breakbeat scene. From early 1999, large scale parties, outdoor raves and club nights have been run under the Sourpuss banner. As DJs they have graced some of the most respected clubs in the UK, as well as nights as far and wide as California, Spain and Turkey.

In a Sourpuss set, you can expect a full range of breakbeat, with an emphasis on a tough jump-up party vibe, played on three decks plus CDJs and FX, with plenty of scratching, acapellas and live female vocals thrown in for good measure. Reflecting their influences and history as DJs, some hip-hop, old-skool rave and jungle/dnb tracks are often dropped along with the breaks.

The start of 2002 saw an organised road-trip to Tangled (one of the longest running clubs in the country and many times winner of Manchester's best club awards) for part one of Tangled Vs Sourpuss. This was one of the long standing club-night’s busiest events of the year. In 2005, Sourpuss gained a residency at Tangled 3 times a year, bringing their traveling audience & collective of DJs to an ever appreciative Manchester crowd. Chris, Ed & Graham now also work as residents at Manchester’s Metropolis drum & bass events, featuring the likes of DJ Randall, Zinc, Hype, Bryan G, Adam F and Grooverider. DJ sets and live PAs at larger events, such as Radio 1’s Metropolis/Factory NYE 2004/05 party, Tribal Sessions at Sankey's Soap, and residencies at Manchester’s leg of renowned London club night ‘Chew The Fat!’ have also been highly regarded ventures.

Sourpuss’ own ‘Nowt But Breaks’ club nights, originally at Band on the Wall in Manchester but now relocated to the rural haven of Bentham Town Hall, have featured artists such as Krafty Kuts, A-skillz, The Drumattic Twins, Koma and Bones, Ellis Dee, General Midi, Dreadzone and Tayo. Several sell out parties in Bentham with production values, music and atmosphere second to none attracted the attention of the national press, with the recent night with Dreadzone featuring in DJ Magazine's Top Ten Nights in the Land.

The Sourpuss trio are also heavily involved with youth and community work. They have run a number of successful programmes across the region teaching young people about music production and DJ skills, working with a variety of organisations. Sourpuss have also hosted a popular FM radio show on Lancaster’s Diversity FM, as well as appearing on internet radio shows on ibreaks.co.uk, nuskoolbreaks.co.uk and Manchester’s Unity Radio.
